Kenya: MP Muoki Wants Kitui Road Works Speeded Up

Kitui South MP Isaac Muoki has called on the government to fast-track the tarmacking of Kibwezi-Kitui-Mwingi road in order to attract investors in the region. Muoki said the road will link the mineral-rich Kitui county with the port of Mombasa and Lamu.

"The government should urgently engage the Chinese government to release the funds it promised for the tarmacking of this crucial road. With the setting up of county governments, this road will open up the region for businesses and economic growth by attracting investors," Muoki said. Chinese government has promised to fund the construction of the road but the funds are yet to be released.
