Express kept the pressure on Bell Uganda Super League table leaders URA with an away win over Masaka on Tuesday.
Skipper Willy Kavuma's goal was all the Red Eagles needed in Masaka Recreation ground to move just a point away from the tax collectors.
Express now have 53 points after 15 wins from 27 matches. Four time champions URA, who are eyeing their first double, are like Express also left with three matches.
Six time champions Express FC are remaining with Bunamwaya, Bidco and Simba while URA have a date with Bunamwaya, Simba and Maroons. Also in the title chase are Buikwe side Bunamwaya whose encounters with the other two giants are likely to determine who emerges supreme.
At Kakindu, Villa took a third minute lead from a Robert Achema goal after Steven Bengo's spade work.
Hosts Hoima-Busia, showing all the signs of fatigue, however clawed their way back with a Martin Mugabi equalizer. But Moses Ndaula finally gave the Jogoos the winner.
