Lafia — A member representing Awe-North state constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Yakubu Faransa, has died. He died at the National Hospital, Abuja, in the early hours of yesterday.
Mohammed Baba Ibaku, House Committee Chairman, Information, told Daily Trust that the late legislator, who is serving his second term, took ill last Friday morning after he collapsed in his Lafia residence from what was later diagnosed to be high blood pressure.
"He was rushed to the National Hospital; he was admitted and operated upon but we lost him this morning", Baba Ibaku said.
Faransa's last appearance on the floor of the House was on Wednesday, May 21. He hailed from Tunga community of Awe Local Government Area. He was the House Committee Chairman on Local Governments and Chieftaincy Matters.
Speaker of the House, Ahmed Musa Mohammed, who was in Lagos for a meeting, but had to cut short his engagement to attend the burial, his media aide, Ibrahim Yakubu, told Daily Trust.
