Tanzania: Zanzibar Safe for Tourists, All Others, Says Kagasheki

The government has reassured foreign tourists and the public that the chaos and riots that erupted in Zanzibar at the weekend have been brought under control and that there is no cause for panic.

The Minister for Tourism and Natural Resources, Ambassador Khamis Kagasheki, whose statement was read on his behalf on Wednesday by his deputy, Mr Lazaro Nyalandu, was concerned that international media have blown the isolated incident out of proportion by describing Zanzibar as a dangerous place for tourists.
