His Excellency President Ernest Bai Koroma awards the Medal of the Commander of the Order of the Republic of Sierra Leone to Deputy Speaker of the Sierra Leone House of Parliament Hon. Victor Chukuma Johnson at a well attended ceremony at State House, May 30th, 2012. It would be recalled that this award was part of the Presentation of Insignia and Awards and Reception ceremony which normally takes place on Independence Day every year. Unfortunately, the Right Hon. Chukuma Johnson was on medical check-up abroad and therefore could not be here to receive the medal on 27th April.

The award recognizes exceptional leadership and exemplary organizational accomplishments in national service, especially in the fields of General Commerce, Public Service and Politics.

Hon. Victor Chukuma Johnson

Honourable Victor Chukuma Johnson, a Justice of the Peace is currently the Deputy Speaker of Parliament where he has been a Member of Parliament since 2000; he has had a distinguished and dedicated service to the nation, particularly in the areas of General Commerce, Public Service and Politics, having served as Managing Director, J.L. Morrison Son and Jones and later acted as Chairman, Committee of Management, Freetown City Council; a Member of the Board of Governor of the W.A.M. Collegiate and the Government Secondary Technical Schools; presently serving as Member in the Finance, Public Accounts, Appointments and the Public Service and Human Rights Committees in Parliament.
