During the hand over, Mr. Mohammed Hamd, the regional Administrator, expressed deep satisfaction with the substantial investments the Ministry of Information is making and the progress being made. He further voiced conviction that the regional Administrations should extend a helping hand to the Ministry, and that reporters in the region are expected to ensure effective fulfillment of their task.

Reporters in all corners of the region have been adequately equipped and thus are expected to demonstrate greater accomplishment as regards productivity vis-à-vis information collecting, documenting and disseminating, the regional Administrator added. He also called on the reporters to judiciously use the equipments at their disposal and on the sub-zonal Administrators to collaborate with the media personnel.

Explaining that 14 members of the Ministry's branch office in the region have received training in the fundamentals of Journalism and Mass Communication, Mr. Akal Mebrahtu, head of the Eritrean News Agency's branch in the region, said that cameras have already been distributed to all media personnel there.
