Eritrea: Child Immunization Activities in Gash-Barka Region Described Effective

Barentu — The Health Ministry's branch office in Gash-Barka region said that child immunization tasks accomplished there have become effective as regards prevention of communicable diseases.

Mr. Berhane Abraha from the branch office indicated that there exists reliable child immunization outreach in all rural areas of the region, and that the program has become successful regarding the eradication of highly dangerous diseases such as polio. Stationed and mobile services are being rendered in all sub-zones with a view to immunizing infants and children on time. And this has become a relief to parents, he added.

Indicating that a healthy community constitutes healthy children, the branch office pointed out that 87 thousand children were immunized with Vitamin A, besides giving vaccination to 100 thousand children against measles and polio. It also called on parents to demonstrate increased participation in the task.
