Nigeria: Polio to be Declared Public Health Emergency

With the close of the World Health Assembly, member countries have resolved to declare polio a public health emergency, and launch a emergency Action plan to address the funding and immunization gaps.

The plan aims to boost vaccination coverage in Nigeria, Pakistan and Afghanistan, the three remaining polio endemic countries, to levels needed to stop polio transmission.
