Kenya: Kwale Officer Charged Over Beach Plot

A senior lands official in Kwale was yesterday arraigned in court over allegedly colluding with MP Omar Zonga in a fraudulent beach plot transaction.

Land registrar Mary Ndale was charged with one count of corruption and that of abusing her office. The charge stated that on October 4th 2006 at the land offices in Kwale district, Ndale being a land registrar used her office to improperly confer a benefit to Said Ndege, Raia Mkungu, Omar Zonga, Rama Mwaurinda, Said Rimo, Ali Juma and Yasmin Dushman by issuing two sets of certificates of lease to them, in regards to the disputed land situated in Diani.
