Congo-Kinshasa: Zaire Peasants Expect Good Harvest This Season

Mbanza Kongo — The northern Zaire province may have a good harvest in the 2012 season, said the chairman of the National Association of Angolan Peasants (Unac) in the region, Amélia Alice Kalassi, Angop learnt.

She said that despite the drought that hit the region between September 2011 and February 2012, the harvest there will reach 50 per cent of the global planned.

"We expect a good harvest, taking into account the arable soils and the seeds on the land", she said.

Unaca has under its control in northern Zaire province a total of 20,260 members grouped in 281 associations and 129 cooperatives.
