Nigeria: CP Threatens Delta Monarchs Over Kidnappings

Asaba — HENCEFORTH, any traditional ruler in Delta State, whose jurisdiction was turned into kidnappers' den would be sanctioned, state Police Commissioner has warned, noting that hoarding of information was hampering efforts towards curbing the menace of kidnapping in the state.

Deputy Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Taiwo Lakanu, who gave the warning while briefing newsmen in Asaba, yesterday, said that traditional rulers were supposed to be in firm control of their subjects, and should assist the police with necessary information without coercion, even if it means concealing their identities while giving out such information.
