Tunisia: Agreement on Creation of First Free Open-Source Software Support Centre in Arab Region

Tunis — The Information and Communication Technologies Ministry signed a co-operation agreement with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) on the creation of the first free open-source software support centre in the Arab region, which will be based in Tunis.

The agreement was signed on the sidelines of the 32nd session of the Arab Telecommunications Ministers' Council Executive Board, which includes 17 countries, held in Oran, Algeria, on June 4-5.

In a communiqué made public on Friday, the Ministry points out that an Arab Forum for the Internet Governance will be created to finalise international conventions on prevention against the bad contents exchanged on the Web, without infringing on confidentiality of personal data.
