Kenya: CJ Calls for Joint Rallies

Chief Justice Willy Mutunga yesterday suggested that aspirants for president hold monthly joint rallies to ensure peace during the next elections.

He said joint rallies by the 14 presidential candidates would send a powerful message to Kenyans that political competition can be healthy, mature and about ideas rather than winning by any means. "Our constitution guarantees us the right to organize and debate openly. It creates a wonderful window for leaders to hold joint political rallies in which they can debate competing ideas on the same platform.
