Nigeria: Smile Telecoms Launches New Service in Tanzania

African telecommunications operator Smile Telecom Holdings Ltd (Smile) has launched a new service in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, enabling the delivery of mobile broadband services

A statement from Alcatel-Lucent Nigerian office at the weekend said the 4G LTE technology was supplied by Alcatel-Lucent.

The network, according to the statement, would be the first in Africa to provide 4G LTE service in the 800 MHz frequency band, providing businesses and consumers with super-fast, high-quality Internet access, initially in the principal commercial city and major seaport of Tanzania.
