Egypt: PM Allocates 161 Million for New Valley Projects

Prime Minister Kamal el-Ganzouri agreed to allocate LE161 million to carry out a number of urgent service projects in the New Valley governorate.

During a meeting on 10/6/2012 with the governorate's MPs and party representatives, Ganzouri agreed to earmark this sum of money to implement water, sanitation, irrigation, health and housing projects, said Planning and International Cooperation Minister Fayza Abul-Naga.

The Minister of Irrigation said that it was agreed on supporting irrigation projects in the governorate to expand in the agricultural sector, stating that the planted land in New Valley amounting to 400,000 acres using 2 billion cubic meter of water annually mostly from groundwater.

Meanwhile, Housing Minister, Fathi el-Baradei pointed out that Ganzouri has agreed to establish 1800 housing units and earmark EGP 5 million for completing the projects New Valley.
