Ghana: Odotobri Rural Bank Supports Obuasi Best Teacher Awards

The Odotobri Rural Bank, on Wednesday, demonstrated its commitment to teacher motivation, when it donated a number of items to support the Obuasi Best Teacher Award Day, slated for next month.

The items, worth GH¢3,300, were made up of three 21-inch colour TV sets, three table top refrigerators, and two standing gas cookers.

The bank, which has supported the promotion of education within its catchment area, last year presented 5,000 exercise books to the Otumfuo Foundation for distribution to needy children in Asanteman.

Mr. S. B. Ahmed, General Manager of the bank, presenting the items, said the donation was in fulfillment of the bank's corporate social responsibility.

"As a bank, it is our responsibility to contribute to the development of education in our operational areas."

He said the bank had been supporting other district assemblies, namely, Bekwai Municipal, Efigya Sekyere, Amansie Central and Adansi in their best Teacher Award ceremony.

The Board Chairman of the Bank, Mr. Johnny Owusu Boadu, said his outfit donated the items as a way of recognising the Education Directorate's good work.

Mr. Owusu Boadi, who is also the Obuasi Municipal Director of Education, appealed to other stakeholders to support the assembly to motivate teachers in the municipality, since teacher motivation was a shared responsibility.

The acting Coordinating Director of the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Ntoso, commended the management of the bank, and hoped other institutions would also come on board.
