Cote d'Ivoire: The UN Mission in Cote d'Ivoire to Support Local Elections

A report in Fraternite Matin (p. 6) noted that the United Nations Mission in Cote d'Ivoire (UNOCI) is to support Ivorian authorities in the organization of local elections. According to the daily, the issue was on the agenda of a meeting between the UN Special Envoy in Cote d'Ivoire Bert Koenders and the President of Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) Mr. Youssouf Bakayoko. "It is important to have fair and inclusive local elections...and the UN Security Council will define the role the UN will play in these elections" Mr. Koenders reportedly said.
