While making his declaration for the ruling All Peoples Congress APC public on Saturday at the National Stadium, Usman Boie Kamara said he decided to join the APC because the Sierra Leone Peoples Party SLPP failed to work with its motto which hinges on unity.
The former SLPP presidential flag-bearer contender told a mammoth crowd that many advised him to quit politics after he lost the bid to be the SLPP presidential candidate but he ignored them because he wanted to support President Ernest Koroma in developing the country.
"My reason for joining politics is to help the poor and the needy in the country. The SLPP failed to work with their motto which is unity that is why I decided to leave the party. I was treated like a small boy in the SLPP," he said and maintained that by joining the APC, President Koroma is already assured of a thousand votes from him and his followers.
"I am ready to work with the president to ensure that life is better for the citizens of Sierra Leone," he added as he presented a file to President Koroma, which he said contained the names of his followers who decided to follow him to the winning team.
