Kano — The Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) in collaboration with the National Orientation Agency (NOA) have embarked on a sensitization campaign on the newly introduced tariff.
Declaring the campaign open yesterday in Kano, the Director of NOA in the state, Alhaji Umar Muhammad Kaila said the exercise was aimed at enlightening the public on the new tariff with a view to creating a platform for interaction between the consumers and service providers. He noted that such platform was necessary as it would bring to light issues that were not understood by the citizens with regards to the new tariff.
"Many people are made to believe that the new tariff is an increase on what was being charged before, while in the real sense of the word, the local consumers now pay less. It is only those major consumers like companies that will be made to pay more", he said.
In his remarks, the Assistant General Manager, Customer Service, Alhaji B R Amao said the new tariff was aimed at providing uninterrupted power supply to consumers based on the prepaid metre system.
