Nigeria: NPL Postpones Week 33 Matches

Abuja — The Nigeria Premier League (NPL) on Tuesday in Abuja said all 2011/2012 Nigerian Premier League Week 33 fixtures earlier scheduled for the weekend have been put on hold.

The week 33 matches were earlier scheduled for Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17.

The NPL Media Officer, Emman Njoku, in a statement said this was to pave way for the conclusion of some outstanding matches.

"Instead of the week 33 matches, two out of the outstanding matches we have will be decided on Sunday, June 17 instead," he said.

"The outstanding matches involved are Match No.221, a Week 23 match between Niger Tornadoes and Heartland FC in Minna, and a Week 24 game, which is Match No. 238 between Ocean Boys and Sunshine Stars," Njoku said.

The NPL spokesman said further that new dates would be fixed for the Week 33 matches, as well as the outstanding Week 28 matches.

"The new dates will be duly communicated to all stakeholders," he said.
