After a scenic 45 minutes game drive inside the calming terrains of the Nairobi National Park, invited guests were taken to where the second Brandy festival was being held at the Kenya Wildlife Service clubhouse over the weekend. The brandy festival is not just about fun, it also demonstrates our commitment and contribution to wildlife conservation and environmental care standards, Distell Kenya Brands Manager Karen Gikunda said.
Distell Group based in South Africa had once again partnered with the KWS to bring the two-day exclusive invite only event which offered both connoisseurs and brandy enthusiasts an opportunity to sample different brandies of distinct character and exceptional quality.
The journey begun with sessions conducted by Van Ryn's distiller General Manager Marlene Bester on how the brandy is made from scratch, through the different maturation stages, then the viewing of the different brandies according to how many years they have been in maturation. Then the guests got to enjoy the award winning brandies paired with chocolates.
The head cooper at Van Ryn's distiller Abie Valentyn was also present and shared his signature tune which is the theme melody for the Viceroy advert all over the world.
Distell Group is home to some of the best brandies in the world which have won numerous awards over the years. They include KIipdrift Gold Brandy, Van Ryn's 12 years old, 15 years old, 20 years old and the 10 years vintage, and lastly the Oude Meester range which has American entertainer Jamie Foxx as its brand ambassador. After that, it was all merry making as guests had a fabulous time trying of the different ways of appreciating brandies served neat, on the rocks or in a mixer.
