Kenya: MP's Wife Carjacked, Robbed in Nairobi

The wife of Agriculture assistant minister Kareke Mbiuki was on Monday evening carjacked and robbed of cash and other personal valuables in Nairobi. Three armed gangsters accosted Janice Kareke on Peponi Road in Westlands area as she came from a shopping mall at New Muthaiga Shopping Centre. Police said Janice was duped by the gangsters to stop by the roadside by being told that her car had a flat tyre.

She recounted to the Star how the gangsters approached her after she had stopped by the roadside. She said the thugs pretended they wanted to help her. "I was just driving out the supermarket when I saw three people who flagged me to stop that I had a flat tyre. I pulled to the roadside and a lady alighted from the car and pointed a gun at me and ordered me to surrender," she said.
