Nigeria: Oba of Benin Lifts Ban on Igbinedion

The Benin Monarch, Oba Erediauwa, on Wednesday in Benin lifted the suspension placed on Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin kingdom.

This is contained in a one paragraph press statement signed by the Secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Mr Frank Irabor. "The general public is hereby informed that the suspension placed on Chief G.O Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin has been lifted."

NAN gathered that the Esama, the father of former Governor of Edo State, Chief Lucky Igbinedion, was suspended in 2008 from all Palace activities for allegedly parading himself as the Benin monarch during his visit to some European countries. It was also gathered that the Esama had made several attempts to pacify the Oba.
