Luanda — The list of candidates of the ruling MPLA party's national constituency for the country's elections is led by the President, José Eduardo dos Santos, head of State and Government, assisted by Manuel Vicente, minister of State for Economic Cooperation.
The 130-member list includes Roberto de Almeida, Luzia Inglês Van-Dúnem "Inga", António Pitra Neto, Julião Mateus Paulo "Dino Matrosse", Joana Lina Ramos Baptista, Ana Dias Lourenço, Elisa Kata, Francisco de Castro Maria and Gustavo Dias Vaz da Conceição.
It also includes Ruth Adriano Mendes, Ana Paula Inês Luís Ndala Fernando, Amélia Calumbo Quinta, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, Dulce Ginga, Alice Paulina Dombolo Chivaca, Kundi Paihama and Maria Cândida Teixeira, among others.
Wheraes, the alternate deputies, with 45 candidates, is headed by Eduardo Leopoldo Severim de Morais and comprises Joaquim José Miguéis, Eusébio de Brito Teixeira, Adérito João Saramago Areias Pereira, Inocência de Deus Faria Morais, Rosália Sandalawa Capamba, Bernardo Bumba, Manuel Teodoro Quarta, Maria Carolina Fiel Maria Fortes and Teresa de Jesus Ferreira Gonçalves, among other members.
Similar to Luanda, the remaining provinces also appointed five permanent candidates and the same number of deputies, in a total of 180, whose list is led by respective first secretaries, with the exception of the northern Cabinda province, whose official Mawete João Baptista, was integrated in National Constituency.
According to the list, the northern province of Bengo is led by João Bernardo de Miranda; Benguela, Armando da Cruz Neto; Bié, Álvaro Manuel de Boavida Neto; and Cabinda, Aldina Matilde Barros da Lomba (2nd secretary).
The province of Kuando Kubango, Manuel Francisco Tuta " Batalha de Angola"; Kwanza Norte, Henrique André Júnior; Kwanza Sul, Serafim Maria do Prado; Cunene, António Didalelwa; Huambo, Fernando Faustino Muteka; and Huíla, João Marcelino Tyipinge.
Luanda is represented by Bento Joaquim Sebastião Francisco Bento; Lunda Norte, Ernesto Muangala; Lunda Sul, Cândida Maria Guilherme Narciso; Malanje, Boaventura da Silva Cardoso; Moxico, João Ernesto dos Santos " Liberdade"; Namibe, Cândida Celeste da Silva; Uíge, Paulo Pombolo; and Zaire, Pedro Sebastião.
The country's polls are scheduled for August 31, 2012.

The nomination of Dr. José Eduardo dos Santos will bring a sense of relief to all Africa. He and his party represent a model of democratic continuation that is under attack elsewhere in Africa, particularly in the more northern countries.
