Namibia: Charity Appeals for Donations

The Namibia Winter Project Organisation is calling on Windhoek residents to donate clothes, blankets and pillows for children from poor households and the elderly in the 8ste Laan community on the outskirts of Otjomuise.

The Namibia Winter Project Organisation is co-initiated by Blackpearl Namibia and Nambrand Investment.

Salmi Enkali, one of the organisers of the project, said the deadline for donations is June 22, since the handover of the clothes to the needy will take place on June 23.

"The project is not supported by any ministries or councillors, although we are hoping that they will be on board soon. We just came up with a project to assist those who are suffering very much and cannot help themselves such as orphans, the disabled and unemployed people," said Salmi.

She added that the project received support in the form of blankets, pillows, shoes and maize meal from a number of individuals over the past few days.

"We are not asking for people to donate money, but blankets, food, etc. - things that they have in their garages that they no longer use. We are here to assist the needy, as small as it may be. It is our way of making a difference in our nation," Salmi said.

Those who want to donate goods or work with Namibia Winter may contact them at 0813006158 or 0818388599.
