Angola: Resumption of Train Service Shows Maturity of Locals

Lobito — The Transports minister, Augusto da Silva Tomás, last Thursday in the central Benguela Province said that the resumption of the train service in the Benguela Railway section is a symbol of the importance of the peace and reconciliation process in Angola.

According to the government official, who spoke to the press after inaugurating eleven railway stations in the Lobito Municipality/Bimbas locality branch line, the resumption of the train service will have a positive impact on the development of Benguela Province.

He believes that the flow of goods between the cities of Benguela and Lobito and the surrounding areas will be made easy and less costly.

The train service in the mentioned branch line was interrupted 25 years ago due to the civil war that swept the country.
