Morocco: HRH Prince Moulay Rachid in Jeddah to Represent HM the King in Funeral of Late Saudi Crown Prince

Jeddah — HRH Prince Moulay Rachid arrived Sunday in Jeddah to represent HM King Mohammed VI in a ceremony to offer condolences to Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, king Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the death, Saturday, of Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

HRH Prince Moulay Rachid was received at king Abdulaziz international airport in Jeddah by HRH Prince Mishaal bin Majed bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud, Governor of Jeddah, Mustapha Belhaj, chargé d'affaires at Morocco's embassy in Saudi Arabia, and other personalities.

Prince Nayef, who died at the age of 78, had served as interior minister since 1975.

The prince, who was also deputy prime minister, was named crown prince in October 2011 after the death of the previous crown prince, Sultan bin Abdul Aziz.

A statement from the Saudi Royal Court, carried by the Saudi news agency on Saturday, said Prince Nayef died outside the kingdom and will be buried Sunday after sunset prayers in Mecca.
