Somalia: Security Forces Detain 10 Suspected Al Shabab Members in Mogadishu

Mogadishu — Somali security forces have arrested alleged Al shabab militants in connection with the insecurity situation Mogadishu after search operations in the past few days, an official said on Sunday.

Omar Abdulle Ja'fan, the district commissioner of Huriwa for Somali government, told reporters inMogadishuthat more than 10 people charged to have links with Al shabab were arrested during crackdowns during cordon and search operations undertaken by a joint security team made up of police and military forces of TFG in Huriwa district.

"We arrested these criminals as they dressed in military uniform and committing acts against local people living in Huriwa district after successful operations," said Ja'fan, adding denied that there are any illegal roadblocks set up in Huriwa district.

Mogadishu,Somalia capital has witnessed deadly attacks, including roadside and car bombs committed by Al shabab militants since they pulled out of their fixed bases in the city after facing major military offensives by Somali and AU troops.
