Kenya: Coast Super Kings Run Over Mt. Kenya Chargers in Samsung Duel

Coast Super Kings romped to an 8-wicket victory over Mt. Kenya Chargers in the first match of the 2012 Samsung cricket tournament Cup at the Simba Union Club yesterday.

Coast won the toss and elected to field. Mt. Kenya Chargers rallied to an all out for 126 in 23.3 overs with Prashanth Srinivas scoring 55 (6 x 4) runs in 45 balls and Ramesh Bora hitting 14 runs which three fours. Coast Super Kings pick of the bowlers were Mani 4/19 in 4.3 overs and Quintas 3/19 in 5 overs.

Chasing 126 in 25 overs, Coast Super Kings achieved the target in 15.2 overs with the loss of two wickets. Anand Ranganathan scored 49 which included six fours and two sixes off 29 balls and Arun Balaraman (not out) on 45 including six four and two sixes in 24 balls. Mt. Kenya pick of the bowlers were Lokesh 1/18 in 3 overs and Prashanth Srinivas 1/37 in 5 overs. The finals will be held on July 8 at the same venue. The inaugural tournament was launched yesterday by Commissioner of Sports Gordon Oluoch. The teams taking part in the tourney are- Mt. Kenya Chargers (Andhra Pradesh Team), Rift Valley Challengers (Karanataka Team), Masai Mara Tuskers (Kerala Team) and Coast Super Kings (Tamilnadu Team).
