Al Jazeera television broadcast live the appearance of former President Hosni Mubarak, confined to a cage in the courtroom.

Former president Hosny Mubarak was declared clinically dead, the national Egyptian news agency MENA said.

Medical sources told MENA's reporter that Mubarak's heart stopped and was subjected to electric shocks more than once but it never responded.

Medical sources said earlier the prisons department called the doctors who supervise Mubarak's case in Tora prison to attend to a stroke.
