Eritrea: Community Members in Milan City Commemorate Martyrs Day

Asmara — The Eritrean community members in Milan City, Italy, lit candles in memory of fallen heroes.

During the event, Mr. Rusom Gebregiorgis, from the Eritrean Consulate in the city, said: "The martyrs dwell in our hearts and the dignity of the country would remain untouched." He further indicated that the Day is an event when every citizen should reaffirm the pledge to work for the fulfillment of the cherished national goals, in addition to supporting families of fallen heroes.

The Consular Office in Milan City stated that there exist 298 nationals in North Italy who work voluntarily for the project of supporting families of martyrs, and that a total of 153,000 Euro has been collected through the scheme.

Expressing readiness to mount staunch resistance against external conspiracies, the participants called on the citizenry to hold high the spirit of martyrs through safeguarding national unity and exerting relentless endeavors for the all-round progress of the nation.

Meanwhile, NUEW members in Demam city, Saudi Arabia, said that they would shoulder the responsibility of supporting families of martyrs.
