Lagos — The National Council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange met yesterday and was chaired by President of the Dangote Group Alhaji Aliko Dangote.

Dangote's presidency of the exchange was recently confirmed by the Court of Appeal, sitting in Lagos. Dangote, who breezed into the exchange at about 4:15pm, was received by the Director General of the NSE, Mr. Oscar Onyema and other top management staff of the organization.

Capital operators at the bourse expect him to focus on steps to restore investor confidence which the market seemed to be lacking, currently.

Among the issues considered at the meeting were the recent directives issued by the Board of the Securities and Exchange commission (SEC) that the individuals nominated by the Commission to the council of the Exchange in the public interest should disengage from council.
