Ahead of the annual interdenominational prayer conference, Shiloh 2012, organised by the Foursquare Gospel Church, Egbeda Zone, Lagos State, billed to begin on Monday, June 25, Nigerians have been assured that the country would overcome its present socio-economic and political instabilities if they can pray without ceasing.
In a statement by the chairman of the planning committee, Mr. Femi Sowole and a member, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Awofiranye, the church warned that the citizenry must repent of their sins, ask God for forgiveness and jettison their wickedness for God to cleanse the land.
The programme tagged: Great and Mighty Things, taken from Jeremiah 33:3, according to the statement, was organised to seek God's face for forgiveness of sins, liberation from the grips of the unscrupulous elements, restoration of Nigeria's glory and possession of the remaining six months of the year.
While the conference will feature vigils from Monday to Friday and will start by 10:00p.m daily, the grand finale will hold on Sunday, July 1, by 8:00a.m at the church auditorium, 18 Orelope Street, Egbeda. Rev Dave Onyibia, who is the Zonal Superintendent of Egbeda Zone, will play host to two seasoned guest ministers, Prophet Mike Ajewole and Rev (Evang) Segun Ehinmisan, during the Shiloh 2012.
"The present case of Nigeria can be likened to the scenario in Israel and Judah as recorded in the Holy Bible. The two nations went through precarious situations, having being besieged by the enemies. Hence there were insecurities in the land, poverty was prevalent because transactions were hindered and uncertainties clearly written on the faces of citizens.
"It was in the midst of these crises that God spoke through Prophet Jeremiah that if the people could call upon Him, He would answer them, show them great and mighty things that they did not know.
"Israel and Judah experienced evils because of their sins and wickedness. However, God promised to show them great and mighty things in His mercy as the people called on Him. We are persuaded that God will liberate as many that will call on Him during this year Shiloh and the lost glory of Nigeria shall be restored," the statement said.
