COACH Herve Renard yesterday unveiled his 26-member developmental squad to play Malawi in an international friendly match set for July 6 in Blantyre as part of that country's Independence celebrations.
Missing from the squad that has only one foreign-based player, Aaron Katebe, who features for Hwange in Zimbabwe, is Power Dynamos player-marker Kennedy Mudenda, while there is a debut for rookie, Junior Zulu.
Renard has also drafted six players from the Metropolitan 2011 COSAFA Under-20 winning squad who include Moses Mapulanga, Evans Kangwa,Reynolds Kampamba, Moses Siasumo, Amos Simwanza, Kizto Cheelo and Bruce Musakanya.
Those who made the squad that goes into camp on July 2 in Lusaka ahead of the friendly match are Joshua Titima, Danny Munyao, Mapulunga, Allan Chibwe, Jimmy Chisenga, Stephen Kabamba, Siasumo, Katebe, Dennis Banda, Nyambe Mulenga and Chileshe Mukuka.
Others are Simwanza, John Ching'andu, Rodderick Kabwe, Cheelo, Richard Kasonde, Musakanya, Mukuka Mulenga, Joseph Sitali, Thomas Nyirenda, Mwepya Kasongo, Jackson Mwanza, Kangwa, Kampamba, Lewis Macha and Zulu.
Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) spokesperson Erick Mwanza, said he was confident that the local players summoned to camp would be up to the challenge.
Mwanza said FAZ will use the mid-season break that starts after the weekend matches to call the squad to intensive training ahead of the Malawi friendly.
And Mwanza said the Under-20 soccer team will start its preparations for the CAF Africa Youth Championships qualifiers second round, first leg match against Lesotho set for the weekend of July 27-29 with the return leg scheduled for August 11 in Lusaka.
He said after the game against Lesotho, the winners will face the victors of the Rwanda versus Mali game in September and October to decide who qualifiers for the Championship to be hosted by Morocco, which also acts as qualifiers for the FIFA World Youth Cup.
