Nigeria: Nine Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Lagos

Nine suspected kidnappers have been arrested by detectives attached to the Festac Police Station, Lagos State Police Command.

The police also rescued a victim, Arinze Igboba, from the suspected kidnappers.

The suspected kidnappers had demanded for N10 million ransom from the family of the victim.

However, luck ran out on them when they made to collect the ransom.

Unknown to them, the police were on ground, swooping on the suspects following a distress call from a vigilant neighbour where the victim was held.

Narrating how he was rescued, Igboba said that he tore the net of the window where he was kept and wrote on a piece of paper, which he threw into the next compound.

A vigilant neighbour, fortunately, found the note and informed the police.

The police gave the names of some of the suspects as Tochukwu Okojie, Joel, Miamani Odiz, Evarest Okonkwo, Ikechukwu Obialor, Oforma Uguju and Emeka Ezeyum.

The suspects, however, stated that Igboba duped them of N200,000 he allegedly collected from them to process visas for them to travel to China.

They added that they kidnapped Igboba in a bid to get their money back after all efforts to recover the money failed.

The police stated that the victim was rescued from a building where he was held at the Iba Estate.

Ngozi Briade, spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, said the suspects would be charged to court soon.
