The moderate Islamist Wasat Party, headed by Abul Ela Madi, held a meeting in recent hours with ex-presidential candidate Abdel Moneim Aboul Fotouh to study a possible alliance with him and other political forces, the Middle East News Agency reported.
A trusted source told the state agency that the meeting took place at the party's headquarters in the presence of Madi, Essam Sultan, Aboul Fotouh, Wahid Abdel Maguid, former Brotherhood leader Ibrahim al-Zaafrani and other political leaders to reach an agreement over forming an alliance.
Wasat spokesman, Amr Farouk, said that the meeting was an attempt to reach an initiative to overcome the current crisis Egypt is facing.
