Asmara — Martyrs Day was commemorated with patriotic fervor in the Saudi Arabian cities of Riyadh and Jeddah, Kassel, Germany, San Hose, USA, Qatar and Kuwait. The Eritrean community members in those cities reaffirmed their pledge to honor the trust of martyrs through dedicated work.
Speaking on the commemorative occasion in Riyadh city, Mr. Saleh Mahmoud Sabe, head of community affairs, pointed out that the Eritrean people are in a position to witness peace and all-round development - Glory to the fallen heroes. He further called on the community members to demonstrate staunch resistance against external conspiracies. Reports also indicated that a total of 13,000 Riyals were extended on the occasion in support of families of martyrs, and that NUEW members in eastern Saudi Arabia took the responsibility of supporting 6 families of fallen heroes.
Similarly, the Eritrean community members in Kuwait pledged to make annual contributions to support families of fallen heroes. The citizens in Kassel city also backed the Government's benefit scheme payments to families of martyrs.
The Eritrean community members in San Hose on their part renewed their pledge to honor the trust of martyrs, and voiced spirit of steadfastness against anti-Eritrea agendas.
In the commemorative event in Jeddah, Mr. Mohammed Omar Mahmoud, the Eritrean Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, indicated that contribution in material and non-material type to the families of fallen heroes is a solid gesture of fulfilling our pledge. Ms. Nura Haj Ali, Chairperson of the NUEW branch in the Saudi capital, said that members of the Union's branch have pledged to support 11 families of martyrs, besides extending a contribution of 4,000 Riyals.
In the same vein, the Eritrean community members in Qatar commemorated the Day in a patriotic spirit.
