Nigeria: FG to Launch Revised Basic Education Curriculum

Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) would launch the revised nine year basic education curriculum which has been reduced from 20 subjects to between seven and 10 later this year.

Executive Secretary of NERDC Professor Goodswill Obioma said this yesterday in Abuja during the first annual staff award.

Obioma said the review of the curriculum came after stakeholders agitated that it was overloaded in comparison to developed countries and even neighbouring countries in Africa.

Subjects in the revised curriculum include English, Mathematics, Culture and Creative Arts, Basic Science and Technology and three vocational subjects, among others.
