Kenya: Journalists Urged to Report Accurately

JOURNALISTS have been urged to enhance professionalism in areas of reporting to pass the correct message to the public. Peace Pen Communications executive director Mildred Ngesa said journalists have a role to inform, educate and disseminate information. They should therefore ensure what they are communicating is factual.

She said most stories on climate change are not given priority because reporters are not as keen as they are when it comes to political stories. "A hard working journalist should be able go to the grass roots to gather information to come up with unique stories,"Ngesa said. Ngesa was speaking during a workshop on enhancing vernacular and community media capacity and participation in climate and environment conservation in Nairobi yesterday
