Angola: Participation in 2012 Olympic Games Guaranteed

Luanda — The vice chairman of the Angolan Olympic Committee (COA), António Monteiro "Babino", last Thursday here guaranteed that conditions are set for a good participation of the country in the 2012 Olympic Games of London, England.

Speaking to ANGOP, after the third ordinary meeting of COA, held in the Journalists Training Centre, António Monteiro, who is also the head of the Angolan delegation to the mentioned summer games, said that there are no problems with the country's participation in the event.

"Despite the reduction to USD 4 million, from the initial budget of USD 7.5 million presented by COA in 2010, which forced the adoption of a plan B, we have all the guarantees and financial conditions so that we can have a participation that dignifies our country", he said.

For the London Olympics Angola has already secured the participation of the national teams of handball, basketball, athletics, swimming, canoeing and judo and boxing, whereas beach volleyball and basketball are still fighting for the pass.
