Nigeria: Pete Edochie Pays Tribute to Segun Olusola

Abuja — Veteran actor Pete Edochie on Friday said the late creator of popular television drama series 'Village Headmaster', Chief Segun Olusola, was an incredible pillar of television entertainment.

Olusola, who was a veteran broadcaster, television producer and a former Nigerian Ambassador to Ethiopia, died on Thursday after a brief illness at a Lagos hospital, aged 77.

Edochie said that the country had lost a gem as the creative writer was a "broadcaster extraordinary".

He expressed sadness that the country in recent times had lost icons like Sam Loco Efe, Ashley Nwosu and Ernest Okonkwo.

" I will miss him; unfortunately most of the foremost broadcasters in the country have died and that is very sad. A lot of people in the movie industry are gone while some are ill, " he said.

He described Olusola as an incredible and patient person who was always ready to listen.

The founder of African Refugee Foundation, an NGO, Olusola devoted himself to the management of the root causes of refugees and internally displaced people.

He was a foremost promoter of culture, working for the preservation of African heritage in addition to spearheading the advocacy for the implementation of a cultural policy.
