The FG has assured the U.S. of its firm determination to bring an end to the destructive activities of Boko Haram in the country.
The Nigeria Embassy in the U.S. stated this in a statement made available to the North America Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in New York on Friday.
The U.S. Department of State had on Thursday formally designated leaders of Nigeria's Boko Haram sect - Abubakar Shekau, Abubakar Adam Kambar and Khalid al-Barnawi as terrorists.
The statement said that Khalid al-Barnawi and Abubakar Adam Kambar had ties to Boko Haram and also had close links with al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, a designated Foreign Terrorist Organisation.
It also appealed to the U.S. government not to allow its action against leaders of Boko Haram to affect their immediate neighbours.
The Embassy noted that immediate neighbours of the terrorists, who have felt most the impact of their activities, were vehemently opposed to Boko Haram and its activities.
"We shall continue our efforts in this direction with the active cooperation and assistance of our friends and allies especially our host government,"the Embassy said.
It also expressed its sadness that the Boko Haram episode had led to such a declaration.
The Embassy noted that the Federal Republic of Nigeria availed itself of the opportunity to renew to the U.S. Department of State, the assurances of its highest consideration.

Only the the truth sets free. The sick must come to terms with a tormenting illness, end denial, tell the doctor the truth and obey the instructions of the doctor for the remedy deployed by the doctor to be effectual. Nigeria has come of denial and agreed it has a tormenting problem and has now embraced needed help. With this diagnosis and openness, we are on the path to healing. As all the gleeful onlookers, silent and active supporters and financiers of the Boko Haram killing machine come under international crime and terror watch, the connivance in the commission of crimes against humanity will come under focus. Those who are the vocal apologists for this scourge of Nigeria should tell us where they stand and how much they have done to educate these our angry brothers to give up their dreams of a forceful islamization of Nigeria. What must be done to end this acts of treason are clear - surrender the dreams of political and religious intimidation, embrace brotherhood of all Nigerians irrespective of geography or religion of birth, politics of development and ascendance of the best for the greatness of the nation and total war on corruption. These are the only panacea that will get us to Canaan.
