Angola: Ruling Party Candidate to Presidential Elections Hailed

Luanda — The presidential candidate of the ruling MPLA party for general elections scheduled for August 31, José Eduardo dos Santos, was hailed Saturday by thousands of militants, supporters and friends of the party.

Sponsored by the Provincial Committee of the MPLA in Luanda, the event aimed at honouring the Angolan Head of State, who was accompanied by the first lady, Ana Paula dos Santos.

The political event was marked by the reading of the resolution of the Central Committee of MPLA, which approved, unanimously and by acclamation, the appointment of President Jose Eduardo dos Santos as head of the party list at the next general election.

The resolution that was adopted at the 5th ordinary session of the MPLA, held on June 13 this year, was read by vice president of the party, Roberto de Almeida.
