Rwanda: Why the White of the Eyes Should Be a Little Bit Red

When the white of your eyes (the sclera) is uncommonly red, you stand out in the crowd. For Francis Mugabo, it is an ordeal as people keep asking him if he spent the whole night awake or if he has been drinking. "It is not funny at all and if I could do something to get rid of this redness, I would do it without hesitation," Mugabo sighs.

Although in Mugabo's case it is clear that there may be some abnormality, he is not the only one to wish that he could have totally white sclera and who would do anything to get just that.
