There are reports that the presidency has suspended Acting Monrovia City Mayor, Mary Broh.

Though there has been no reason for Broh's suspension, the Catholic-run Radio Veritas reported that the move by President Ellen Sirleaf was intended to ease tension between the Executive and Legislative Branches of Government.

The Executive Mansion in Monrovia is yet to officially confirm or deny the report. Before the reported decision last weekend, the President, on Tuesday, June 19, visited the Capitol where she held a 4 hour in-camera conference with the Senate.

There was no official statement issued in the aftermath of that meeting, but the visit was reported to have centered on two issues- the senate's approval of the 2012/2013 budget before 30 June and mercy for Mary Broh's sacking.

Broh, 56, was slapped with a Vote-of-No-Confidence by the Senate following her refusal to appear before that body. Broh's trouble started when she reportedly assaulted one Nancy Gaye, a special assistant to Senator John Ballout of Maryland County.

The matter, which should have been taking to court for redress, took center stage at the Upper House since the beginning of June. Taryonneh has been acting mayor since 2009 when she replaced Ophelia Hoff-Saytumah who now serves as one of the vice presidents of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL).

Before heading the city government, Mary was the Director of Passport at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as working at the Freeport of Monrovia as Deputy managing Director for Administration. She could be remembered for her hard work, including the maintenance of orderliness in the city of Monrovia.
