Kenya: Police Chiefs Reshuffled

Central police division chief in Nairobi, Eric Mugambi, is among several senior police officers transferred in a mini-reshuffle announced by police commissioner Mathew Iteere. Robinson Mboloi from Mt Elgon has been named the new OCPD to oversee the security within the Central Business District.

Mugambi was moved to Mbeere to take over from Tom Odera who goes to Imenti North in the same capacity. The changes also affected James Kithuka from Imenti who was transferred to Mt Elgon. Police headquarters described the changes as normal.

The reshuffle comes just weeks after Iteere moved all senior traffic police officers from Nairobi and Highway police patrol units. In less than a month, the Central Police Division now has new commanders at all the three most important departments including that of traffic and CID. Moses Njue was named new traffic commander replacing Jenifer Mutuku who was moved to Ruiru in most recent reshuffle.
