Africa Is On the Move in Amsterdam

Radio Netherlands Worldwide found much to be inspired by at the Africa on the Move event on Saturday 23 June in Amsterdam.

The symposium organised by the African Young Professional Network in the Netherlands hosted 15 speakers and various national and international organisations, to reflect on the positive developments currently taking place across Africa in the fields of fashion, business, technology and literature.

Among the speakers were African fashion designers Audrey Ngo Mbog (from Uzuri Couture, winners of the MAF Fashion Battle 2012), Amelia Fernhout (Revelation of the New Fashion) and writers Alphonse Muambi and Vamba Sherif.

Organisations such as Dutch development bank FMO, business consultants IntEnt and private healthcare investors IFHA talked about business opportunities on the continent, while sustainability developers TNO, money transferers Belcash Holding and SMS campaigners Text to Change were on hand to cover some recent tech developments.

Many young professionals met each other and exchanged ideas on the emerging opportunities in Africa.
