Kenya: 300 Hectares of Maize Ruined By Disease in Nandi

MORE than 300 hectares of maize has been destroyed by the fungal Lethal Necrosis disease in Nandi South, the district's crops officer, Josiah Mitei has said.

He said the infections, which is spread by Aphids and Thrips - a tiny insects that hides under the plant leafs - has destroyed several farms in Kaptumo and Aldai divisions and is threatening food security in the Rift Valley, the country's grain basket.
