Gusau — A policeman has lost his life while five others sustained various degrees of injuries following a road accident involving the convoy of Zamfara State Governor Abdulaziz Yari Abubakar.

Daily Trust learnt that the deceased, ASP Ado Yahaya, who was the head of the governor's Special Protection Unit SPU, died instantly in the accident.

The accident was said to have occurred at about 4:30pm on Sunday when a camel crossed the Gummi-Sokoto road near Tajiji village while the governor was on his way from Gummi where he had gone to inspect some ongoing road projects.

Director of Press and Communication to the governor, Alhaji Nuhu Anka, who was part of convoy, said the SPU vehicle developed a technical fault when a stray camel suddenly crossed the road resulting in the accident.

Visibly disturbed, Governor Yari immediately directed his ADC and the medical team to adequately supervise the evacuation of the dead body and the injured persons to Gusau Federal Medical Centre.
