Namibia: Defaulters Thrown Lifeline

Government has requested the High Court to temporarily halt the auctioning of houses whose owners have defaulted on debts until "defects" in the current legislation have been corrected.

In the meantime, all applications to auction properties in the recovery of debts should be heard in an open court, where the creditor and the debtor get a fair chance to state their case openly.
